Repeater repair donations needed

OK Final notice on this subject.

Our Kenwood repeater has been fixed. It is ready to go back on the air.
Our antenna is fine.
Our duplexers are barely functioning.
Our feedline is very very bad.

Our 2 meter repeater has feedline problems. There is severe water infiltration in the coax donated to us by the city. For new coax equivalent to what we have up there now, will run us 2.50 per foot and we need 310 feet of it. Total Cost : 775 dollars.

The cost for Jay to run it for us and take down the old coax will be around 500 dollars. This is his cost, as it will be a day long project and he has to pay 3 guys to do it. I dont expect him to do this for nothing, and nobody else should either. He is already giving us a great deal by breaking even on it.

Total Cost will be 1275.00

We have 300 towards the project from the sale of some UHF gear. That leaves us with 975 to come up with.

As has been agreed with in the past, the club will put out 400 dollars out of our savings. While it wont bankrupt the club funds, it will be half of what we have saved for the last 5 years.

That leaves us 575 to raise.

Now here comes the bad part.  What will it cost us as individuals. We have 17 members. 11 of which are from diffrent households.

So far Jeff and Steven, who isnt even a dues paying club member but is part of our family, have offered to pay. Not everyone on this list uses this repeater on a daily basis, but there are about 6 of us that do. I know that maybe everyone cannot afford to come up with a sizeable donation all at once. Jeff mentioned that he would be glad to help, and if it were over a certain amount he would even make a monthly payment. Im all for that, if you want to break it down into a couple of payments.

We need 11 people at a minimum to come up with 50 dollars each. The more who share the cost, the less the cost per person will be. No its not a requirement that you do this, but I dont think it is fair for Bob and I to have to share the entire cost. There is more people that use this repeater aside from just me and him. Between the 2 of us over the last 4 years we have about 600 dollars in various peices and parts concerning repeaters, and thats not including bobs mishap with the screwdriver incident. If we dont raise enough amongst ourselves, it will just have to be off the air for an extended period of time.

We need a new set of duplexers also, but that can wait.

Reply to the list if you are interested in donating, or contact me on my own email at waynea at xwea.net or you can even call me at 334-764-4540 and I will clarify and explain things better. If nobody is interested in donating, we will just run along with the risk we lose our repeater alltogether. You cant transmit in to an SWR of 2-3 for very long without something happening.

In closing, every repeater needs the support of the people who use it in order for it to function. Lets all step up with a little something extra and once again have our repeater functioning in a capacity that will be better than it ever has been. I will be awaiting your responses.
